Happy 2012!

I’m so happy to start a new year! Though many wonderful things happened in 2011. I do feel a little like “Good riddance 2011” and “Hello, 2012.” I’m ready for a fresh start.

Best of the Best contest

Tomorrow, I kick off my 2011 Best of the Best contest on my blog. I post my favorite pictures in a variety of categories from last year’s weddings and engagements. Then, YOU vote for your favorite, and you get all of your friends and family to vote for your favorite pictures. Did I mention prizes? Oh yes, there will be prizes. 🙂

Album orders

Today, I am officially starting wedding album orders. Remember, I work on albums only in my “off-season.” So, if you’d like to order a wedding album, contact me ASAP to get on the list. If you have already contacted me, you are on there already.

2012 weddings

I’m so excited for my 2012 wedding season. It officially starts in April. This year, I have decided to take a few less weddings to enjoy some time with my family. Weekends are such a precious time professionally and personally. I want to be able to have fun family time AND shoot as much as I possibly can. I do feel like I end up having to say “no” too often to potential clients, but it is for the best. So, with that said, I really cannot take anymore weddings for the year, but I know many wonderful photographers that I can refer to.

2013 weddings

Before the holidays, I received many inquiries for 2013. Yay! I am always so completely honored when I am contacted that early. At the time, I was just NOT ready to book for 2013. I am still NOT ready to book for 2013. I will be re-vamping a few things around here, and will post again when I’m ready to book for 2013. Hold tight. 🙂

and finally…

I have not been keeping up with my Friday posts of Max and Haden. I don’t know if anyone else cares about this but me, really. I love looking back at those weekly pictures to see how they grow. However, during my family time, I have felt like just enjoying what is happening and not worrying about pictures. I love photography. I LOVE it, but sometimes when I shoot “just for fun,” I end up feeling like I’m working. I have noticed I get frustrated if I take a candid shot of my boys and it isn’t up to my usual quality. I don’t like that. So, I’ve been taking some breaks from shooting with my professional camera, and it is really good. I’ve been using my iPhone a lot (and Max is a much more willing subject with my phone rather than with my professional camera). Here are a few pictures from Christmas using Instagram and my iPhone. These are not the kind of pictures I usually post, and that makes me really happy.

Ok, YES, this is a LONG post. But, one more note. We are trying to sell our house. We have an offer accepted on a lovely, lovely house still here in La Crosse. The offer is contingent on us selling our house though. Do you know anybody looking for a nice starter home in La Crosse? Check it out!
